Dubs & Dimes

This is where you will find me on May 27th.  Crucial will be sponsoring the event along with Uni4rm, Temple Effectives, and Civil.  With live art, free give aways and some ill music, you would be crazy not to come.  21 plus :D

Crucial Styles…

Here are 3 upcoming shirts for Crucial’s summer collection. I wanted to keep a clean simple look not just for yoyo players, but for all those into street wear. Details of more new designs and a fitted hat will be unveiled later on.

Good Job Stepan!

Not only am I feeling this feestyle, but the track choice gets my approval.  Rocking the heavy cream.  Keep up the good work Stepan.  Single A freestyle

New Delrin…

Here’s a yoyo that I’ve been wanting to do for a while now. Influences are taken from Buzzon’s DV8, one of my favorite throws at the time.

Diameter: 1.97″

Width: 1.59″

Weight” 67.3 gr

This is the first prototype. Has a little harmonic vibration, but this will be corrected in the next one. I wanted to experiment to see how much rim weight I could put on it. I will probably transfer some of the rim weight to the center to balance it out. Other than that, it plays really really nice. Target release will be end of May, after the Tres Leches.

Update:  After going through 4 different prototype models, I perfected the design.  I’m happy to say, that this is my smoothest delrin yet.

New Logo..

Here’s a logo that you will be seeing on shirts, packaging, and everything crucial from now on. :)

Overhauling the blog…

The blog is going to get a little makeover. Just some changes to look and some added content like yoyo and team member info. It will have a cleaner look but just as Crucial.

Crucial Grooved Bearings…

These are the bearings that are going to come standard in the Heavy Creams and all of my yoyos from now on.  I go through a process of cleaning every bearing  and inspecting that they spin well.  Each bearing comes lightly lubed, with a special light oil blend that I’ve developed from my ten plus years of yoyoing.  I still have 100 more to go!  Back to work.

New Crucial Mascot!

I’d like to introduce the newest family member of Crucial…. “Boogie” aka Boogie Monster. Only 6 months old, he is mixed half Border Collie, half corgi. He has the colors of a Border Collie, yet the body and short legs of a Corgi. It was his last day and I rescued him from the shelter and got him as a gift for my girl for her birthday. Little did I know how lovable this dog can be. His hobbies includes dreaming and being rubbed on the belly. When he’s not dreaming, he likes to wake me up by jumping on me and licking my face. Time to go walk the dog.  womp womp

Spin Top project..

With shipments of the heavy cream version 2 around the corner, I’ve also been busy working on designs for the new delrin spin top. After throwing throwing some thoughts and ideas around, I’m going to start prototyping a spin top with a thrust bearing. Conventional bearing tops uses the same bearings as a yoyo bearing. This works, however the load and force from a top comes from bottom and pointed tip. When ever it is dropped or hits the ground, there’s always a chance for the bearing to break because yoyo bearings are not designed to handle load on the side of the bearing. With a thrust bearing it can handle large axial load. I’ll let you guys know how prototyping goes.
